sweet car! and looks in nice shape after all this time.
the steering wheel, don't worry. i am not saying a Flat4 replica would do the trick, it would be a shame really, but right now there are 3-4 for sale in the classifieds, maybe not cheap but rather easy to find. i am sure this type of steeringwheel is one of the most easy to find items on your Rometsch! and often pops out for sale here on thesamba and in other websites or at meetings. just be glad the trims are all present, no hacks... just imagine how would it be like to try and search for a dash clip or a missing door.. or maybe a bumper. :?
Greets
PS check this car out. Fiat 1100D. are those taillights the same as on Rometsches? i checked a thesamba ad, and they seem to be Altissimo brand. as i am into Fiats as well, i tend t think these are the same?
i might hook you up with a set if needed, maybe even a nos one ? |

I saw the car in real today, definitely an ambitious project. Good luck with it Patrick...!
And yes, the bodynumber is known now, with a little help from a german friend and 'Rometsch Collector' who pointed out the location of the number  |

Didn't notice this thread till today.
Patrick got one of the nine prices for showcars on the "Keverwinterfestijn"show. Afterwards I went to see the car and spoke with Patrick.
Like Belgianboxer sais: an ambitious project. But hearing Patrick about his plans and connections, it must come to a wonderful end!
Lots of succes :!:

I also saw the car IRL today. After my initial response "You must have very good skills to even start on a project like this" I looked a bit closer and Patrick was kind enough to tell about were some of the parts came from.
The body is in very good shape, which surprised me. And the car is almost complete.
It's a real challenge, but with the skills of everybody who is going to work on this car, I'n confident that the result will be stunning!
And she won't become a trailer-queen! |

He Patrick,
Nice talking to you yesterday. Like been said before you are up to a real challenge! But the car is definitely worth saving and with all the people you got involved this will be a great project to watch here! Here are some pics I took.
Is that an antique boom box behind the rear seat? :D
Some more in my gallery.

Some update on my car:
The car is at a Dutch Aircooled VW Museum now, that will open at the end of this month. It will stay there for untill I start the restoration. (when that will be is depending on my financial situation)

I did collect the metal frame for the car that was build by the restorer of the VW Museum car in Wolfsburg. When he restored that car, he made a copy of the metal frame. So The metal work is almost done :D .
Still some things have to be changed, as my car is a three sitter and the frame was made for a two sitter.
I also bought some parts that were left after the restoration of the museum car. Still looking for a good steering wheel and all the batches, and logo's. And off course all the parts have to be restored or renewed.
See here my bodynumber stamped in my front bumper.

I also found a person who build personalised modelcars. This is the model het made from my Rometsch
I think it looks great. All details are correct. The windshield, one front turnsignal and one taillight ares missing. The chassis is half gone. The paint is just like the real car.

Last weekend I picked up the car from the Dutch aircooled museum and bought it to HO.
In the next couple of weeks the car will be stripped and the aluminuim panels will be removed and later will be joined with the completely renewwd metal structure.
So, the restoration it is finally starting.
