Thanks. I honestly have not had a chance to put it on. I went to work in Mexico City the day it arrived and have been recovering from Hernia surgery recently. Maybe I will get to it before summer is out, but the bus is stored 45 miles from where I am living now, so it is hard to just put in a few minutes here and there. |

Sorry Snoops, a divorce in 2011 kind of stifled the progress for a bit. :? I was also out of the country A LOT too.
At least the engine is progressing a bit now and Matt Miller is currently sewing up the seat covers too.
I need to take the frames down to get blasted and powder coated, but will do that sometime in January. |

NP... Way to make me look like the biggest dick ever in your response. Yeah, your out of town work schedule sure did seem to ramp up this past year. Looking forward to seeing it together and at a show or two up your way or down mine. |

And to Kent, congrats on the newest addition to your human family (not a new Bus).
Hope to see Neils Bus soon, maybe this year? Funfest in June is probably too optomistic... maybe a debut at BNNTA#27 on Labor Day weekend???

Sorry guys, I have been overseas A LOT in the past year and will be gone most of April too.
Don't worry, the bus is in a nice safe location and will be tended to when I have time. |

npbusguy wrote: Doug's awesome looking panels got me thinking about my worn and discolored arm rests. I rebuilt them this morning.
The old foam just crumbled
The arm rest covers are formed and using a flat piece of color matched vinyl just wouldn't look right, so I dyed them to match the new panel material
Freshly dyed and new foam installed.
Mounted to the powder coated bases
I am still polishing the chrome trim out, but it is getting there.
Neal, your armrest look great.
where did you get the foam for the arm rest, or did you make them yourself? |

I made the foam out of 1/2" (12.7mm) carpet pad foam stacked and glued together to make 1 inch (25mm) thick foam.
The shape is pretty easy because you can use the metal support as a template.
Use some heavier density foam, like carpet padding, for the arm rests because a low density foam would squish down too easily. |

My bus has been in storage for the winter and then I got an email from Tom in Canada saying he was coming to town and wanted to check it out because he also owns a 58 15 window.
So, I coaxed Tom into helping me pull it out, which is good because it is a pain to do by myself.
Here is Tom sweating after the hard work....
We did a little work, largely because Tom wanted the dyed assist strap that I had hanging in my bus as I had found a NOS brown strap.
NOS strap
The switch...
Finished, save for a little cleaning
I am excited to get back on the bus project and hope to have some more updates soon.
Hey Matt, How are the seat covers coming along? |

I always get excited when you update this thread. Hello Tom, it is nice to put a face to the name. Hope to meet you one day.
Neil - I cannot wait to see this bus in person, I might just have to take a trip to Chicago.
Matt and Douglas - let me know when you guys have an interior for me - The money is about to burn a hole in my pocket. |
