I'm restoring a 54 barndoor I want to keep original gearbox, transaxle, reduction boxes etc, but I would like a longer final drive ratio as I'm putting a 1500 porsche engine in. Anybody have any clues?
Thank You bye bye

The final drive in the Bd box is pretty high allready, so there arnt many options (if any) the really low reduction gears are the killer.

The thing that I would be carefull with with the 356 engine is that the cam and power band are designed for the rev range and weight of the porsche, where in the Bd the 36hp engine has the perfect TQ curve for its rev range you will find that the 1500 356 engine has much less low end Tq and has it max HP up in the 5000+ rpm range this is unusable in a BD.

If i was using a 356 engine in a bus I would De-cam it to get the TQ down in a more usuable range.

good luck :D
