View original topic: Finally got a Manx

Hey you guys might get sick of these post. Man I have wanted one of these buggies for years and finally got one. I would like to describe a little bit of it and hopefully get some suggestions.
I got it about 3 weeks ago and finally Sat. got the Ca. plates. It was sitting for about 13 years. No motor and wiring is wasted. Also no motor but I picked up a 1600dp.
Just a couple questions. It is on a 56 pan. I have heard the brakes I have are hard to get parts for, 56. What would be suggested?
I took off the hood because I plan on trying to get it up and running and need to replace wiring and drain the tank. Is the front tank a bug tank or?
I think the wiring I am going with is made by www.4wheelinjunky.com. Anyone use this one?
Lastly what is the best way to raise it a little? Now I have the bigger wheels in the back. I don't like them. What are good size wheels and tire combos.
Well thanks for any suggestions. For now I plan on getting it up and running and in the future a complete overhaul.

If your tank looks like this it is a Bug gas tank. I moved the filler from the bottom to the top middle of the tank.

Tire and wheel combos. The search works well here. Check out this link.

You can raise the front by putting in adjusters to the front beam.

Raise the rear by adjusting the spring plates on the rear torsion bars.

Thanks for the info. I took some pictures, sorry they aren't that good. I turned the lights to take the hood off.

Then I have the dash. It is just a piece of wood where the gauges are mounted.

Then I have the back of the buggy. It was hacked up for dual carbs. What a shame.

I was told when I bought this it was a Manx. There are no tags. It is registered on a 56 pan.

You need to post pics of the reinforcing tubes that run under the sides and under the fenders.
your car looks very similar to a manx, but the one I picked up looks very similar as well. I have pics of mine up under the thread "Hello all"
There are also some pics from a verified manx there.
If yours doesnt have the badging or a serial #plate or the blocks glassed in under the body it would have to be a very early manx.
In the end it becomes the Meyers call on one of these cars. Only Bruce really knows exactly how he built the early ones.
You will need to send a bunch of high quality pics to the Meyers if you really want to know.
