We're going to be powdercoating all the suspension parts on the '55 356 that I'm restoring. I assume they're supposed to be black, but I need to know what type of finish they're supposed to have, gloss, semi-gloss, or flat? Thanks

if you are trying to do a stock restoration do NOT powdercoat these pieces, powdercoating is fairly thick and you will need the clearance on some of the bits on reinstallation.

wurth sells the proper paint in a can,no primer and satin black i believe.

Whenever I do ANY powdercoating on suspension pieces and transaxle parts, I mask off with special "plastic tape" the areas that I dont want powdercoated. If I cannot apply "tape" to the area because of shape or design, I use a thick felt tip marker and write in BIG letters, "NO" letting the powdercoaters know that I DONT want that area powdercoated.

Its nice to develope a good "relationship" with the people that are working on your parts and when you have special requests, the are more that happy to accomidate your needs. Works for me!

Cheers!
