Some sites , have a specific newbie section. Where it is common to get stupid repeat ? This kinda keeps it in one place. If there was such a forum it would be the place to have all these stickys and other suggestions , or introductions too. search button, dictionary, etc.

I like some of these Ideas, I can't count on two hands, how many times these questions pop up.

Safari bug windsheild?
Type 1 motor in a type 3
Is this correct? (followed by a repeated question)
Transmissions/tranaxels
Motor #'s
Tranny #'s

the list goes on.

I really like the idea of the Noob section, there is too many repeated q's in the beetle and type 3 forum to weed out the important questions.

and by the time you do get to them, you are so pissed cause you've read the same question 3 times in a row, that you give the generic responce,

"Have you searched? this topic has been covered."

Just some food for thought.

The Site Forum is the spot for question related to the site or where to find things on the site.

Each section has FAQ topic at the top, most of which link to the most common questions. Unfortunately we cannot force people to check that before posting. That is why you get people saying "see the FAQ" or "Do a search" so often.

I second that. Have it so there's a posting threshold (say 20-25) before letting them go outside the 'initiation forum' and allow them to post away & learn.

I'm sure there will be others here that will frequesnt the area to lend a hand :)

As a new member to this site first of all i must say tks for such a wonderful site. You all make good points about newbie's and navigating the site. If I may take a moment maybe my experience will help to add to this discussion. First of all after working on my project for 3 yrs it was only last month I found this site and I spent hrs reading the rules and the different forums etc but low and behold my first post was sent to " site" by mistake which kinda peaved 1 person. I felt kinda bad but read a bit more and got that part straight.

Secondly We r all not computer literate so some of us have trouble getting around new sites. So I agree that for us newcommers an introduction section would be good. Maybe we would read them.

Third....trying to get answers quickly doesn't necessarily mean being lazy rather so pumped up about sloving a problem on which we've spent hrs only to find the answer in a post here.

That being said and being a newbie I've proberly said too much here already and don't misinterpet my thoughs here. I have the highest respect for the senior members and appreciate thier invaluable help. No book can replace that.

Lastly I flunked spelling in school and spells wrong even with spellcheck but what the heck as long as the word is interpted correctly.

tks for allowing me my opinion and remember an opinion is never wrong or right depends on the persons interuption.
