OK so its a HORRID picture. But you get the idea.
I have already asked about these rims on another thread, as it pertains to a Split bus. But then I looked at the Bader Racing Ghia, and thought it might have trimmed wheel wells.
I was curious I inherited some wheels and tires, they are Brabus 19" wheels from a Mercedes CLK430 with 5x120 wheel pattern. They are about 9.5 inches across the tread up front and 10.5 in back. They appear to be 1-2 inches shorter than the stock tire. When installing large rims on a Ghia - do people pull it off with a narrowed beam, and NO cut sheet metal in the wheel well? Front and Back? How wide is the widest you can go on a Ghia at Stock height (assuming perfect wheel offset?). Just curious if anyone has jammed some big ones under theirs.
Another question, is this why people bag-em? Harsh ride, does the combination of modern tire and old suspension = harsh ride, and quickly worn steering components? Track well? |

| you might get better responds about this in the www.germanlook.com site since thats what them guys do, put wide rims on vw's.I think i read somewhere the widest anyone has gotten on a ghia rear was a 8" wide rim, from that forum, buts its all in your offset. |

| I would sell them. Take the money and buy some rims designed for a VW. |

I have to say- I am leaning more towards Fuchs for the Ghia and putting these on the monster, since its predisastered and Totorraye custome aready.

I have the original article from Volks World about the Bader Ghia. Those are 8x17 (ET 49) wheels all around. They did some major body work and made it look like factory. They had to stretch out the rear fender wells and also the fronts and blend them into the rest of the body. Extremely well done. Here is a link to that article:
