Any one know of a shift lock suitable for the type 3 ( well T34). Do the Type I ghia sperrwolf type fit?

I dont think that will actually work on a T-3. T-3 has a different base than a T-1.

A freind of mine has one in his square... I will ask him where he got it.

Locks your car in reverse. Theft prevention.

are you sure? last I looked the aftermarket shifters they were all the same, and stock look the same with just different bends and lengths, and pin or no pin

I can tell you the T2 guys intently dislike the repop locks. Everyone says they work/fit like crap and they are not worth the $$.

That one shown is not a T-3 shifter. T-3, the boot goes down over the flange, not over the ball. A T-1 will bolt in, but it is not right.

I installed one of these into my 1962 T34 Cabriolet. Installed in 15 minutes, fits great, & works well. Sometimes it can be a bit cranky to get it into a lockable position, but when it's in-place it keeps things safe in an open VW. It also adds to the "accessory-factor" but you lose the cool soft shifter boot. But these have a cool unique soft gray boot that's tough to find.

Thanks Lee - I guess that answers my question. On the type 2 you need a base plate. I cant see one on your lock.
Will be doing the same!

Lee, what's the crazy-cool knob jobby there beside the shifter?
Enlighten me please someone, won't you?

heater knob unless I'm missing something

Yup, the early T3s had an ivory rotary knob for the heater controls. In 1964-66 they changed to the dual controls near the e-brake. And in 1967-69 they were mounted at the base of the e-brake.

Hey Lee, any issues mounting it? I have an OG one I was gonna insatll on mine. Also, any lead on the boot? Or is it a standard T1 boot?

Hi all - have just completed the fit for the shift lock - ended up using the toilet bowl type that fits right over the type 3 shift housing. ie it has a hollow unlike the later type that require you to remove the housing. Locks into reverse!
easy and a readily visible theft deterrant! I'll let you know if it works - as I drive the T34 daily!

Type 1 Ghia as well had the rotary knob thru 63. Well, at least mine did!

hi there guys..

i have the exact shifter lock from a 1960 ghia. it is marked BKS, and missing the key.

can anyone tell if it's only for the ghias, or just made to fit any vw? (i know it works on all cars, but was curious if it's listed as ghia accessory or not)
