| i would like to find my first porsche, ideally a 912e. i am very familiar with the type 4 motor and love the lines of the 911 so it only makes sense to start with a 76. what is a fair price for one that needs all mechanicals but is a solid body? is there anywhere in the mid-atlantic region that one is availible? is this a good idea or just a pipe dream i.e. , is it not a good first porsche? thanks in advance for any help :D |

Prices are all over the place depending on condition and location. Take a look through the classified here and on Pelican Parts forum.

Buy a complete one in good shape, and it will make things much better. Between 911s, 914s, Bay windows, and Vanagons you can find parts.
Check this site: http://www.912bbs.org/index.php?a=forum&f=18
There are a couple nice ones for sale right now.
I like mine. It's not terribly fast, but the handling is really fun to drive. |

| i was looking at the 912 in NC that thomas o'keefe has for sale on the 912 registry, seems like a decent original car that would make a good driver. |

| I paid $3200 for a complete numbers matching car that needs a bit of welding in the floor pan. Key is to find a complete car with matching engine if it is to be a collector. Check with the 912 Registry on how to do this. |
