Is there any way to decrease the width of the Online User list?

At the same time, can the list of Online Users be modified so the entire user's name fits?

For Example: durhamfirecaptain's name gets cut off.
This has been altered.

The name cut off is fixed.

When you click on the people in chat it sets up a pm to them, can it also be set to go to their profile so you can see who you are talking to? That was a nice feature in the old chat.

No, this is NOT true.

Whoops....my bad...

This new chat sucks.

Every other minute I am getting:

Quote: Error: Connection status: 12029

And moderators can read the whispers? (new name for private messages)

Pretty sure they cannot read the whispers.

I left the chat open for a few hours and did not get booted or any such error messages.

This should be in the next version.

No.

HamburgerBrad Wed Jan 02, 2008 1:03 am

as far as the pm feature, one of the neat things about the last chat was the big red [Private] which made it easy to pick the private messages from regular chat conversation

I like how it saves your settings such as font color and chat style.

Is there a way to distinguish between who is "away" and who is available like in the old chat? (Someone's name who was away would show in italics.)

Also, I hear people saying that the new chat is too "busy." Is there a way to hide the smilies with just a link to them instead?

I believe it logs you out instead of making you "away". It's set to 5 minutes but I haven't tried it yet to see what happens.

I changed the "whispers" things to "PM". Whispers is weird and PM is shorter anyway.

HamburgerBrad Wed Jan 02, 2008 11:43 am

also, you still have the link for "old chat" up at the top navigation bar, whereas it was removed from the bottom of the forum home page

EverettB Wed Jan 02, 2008 12:59 pm

Yes, I am leaving it there for a while until I retire the old chat.

And I made it red as several people requested this change to make PMs stand out.

hazetguy Wed Jan 02, 2008 5:15 pm

it would be nice if your font color stayed the same in private messages. right now it appears as if it defaults to black.

MrBreeze Wed Jan 02, 2008 5:25 pm

Where's the cool announcement when someone gets booted? We lose the fear factor without it.

blankmange Wed Jan 02, 2008 7:39 pm
