and , put some semaphores back on it !!! :)

Definitly high on the agenda.

Joey

Make sure you keep those semaphore replacement lights though. They are too cool. They were used in cold climates due to the ice and snow preventing the semi's from working.
indeed,.they are period correct accessories and just as worthy and show-able as semaphore. personally as long as they are complete, I'd leave em.

the only thing i would do, is look for new lenses if they make such a thing

I'd leave them on as well. I can always see semaphores.

Anybody know where I could get some lenses?

scvw Thu Jan 10, 2008 7:03 pm

I cleaned a couple places last night with just a wet towel and you know what? That shit is gonna buff out. :D 8)

Has anybody seen a mark like this before? When I was cleaning the insides out last weekend I saw this under the drivers side mat. I can't quite make it out but it looks like a square with something and a "C". Is it some kind of inspection mark?

The stamped 11C is for the body type which is hard top, here is a picture of the pan in my 53 vert, the stamp is 15A which is for convertible. You just can't see the 11 next to the C on yours.

Very cool car! Get yourself a rotary buffer, learn to use it right, and use the Meguiars products from a local Autozone, etc;. Start with thier Deep Crystal line, a paint cleaner, swirl remover, a polish and finish off with a wax. I have black vert it it shines like crazy with Meguiars.

Did a quick wash on the car. Mostly original paint! :D 8)

scvw wrote: Yeah, it is missing some stuff but I was happy overall with the completeness of the car. Mainly with how solid it is though.

What is the story on the badge? I definitly am going to send off for the birth certificate.

Thanks

Joey

I have a March 1951 VW Dealer map for Germany and it lists the Mainz Dealer, here is the info:

Mainz
Philipp Kraft, OHG., Binger
StraBe 23, Telefon 43 15

I collect early dealer badges, unfortunately I don’t have the one your car, that is a cool one for sure. You can see the ones I have here www.SplitVWs.com under “Dealer Badges”.

Yeah, he told me the same thing also.Guess he changed his mind.
I am thrilled that he sold the car to me and am really glad that the transaction went so quick. It was raining pretty hard the day that I looked at it and I really hated to see it sitting outside like that since it had been put up for so long. I had it at my house three days later. :D

Joey, the road to the right looking out the back glass, I live down that road about 2 miles. That is by the mill in Redbank.
I was curious as why you were out that way, Sam lives in the direction you are driving.

Not yet. Making the tools has been keeping me too busy. :D I do want to get to it soon though. I might have an opportunity this Sunday to mess with it. I will keep people updated with the progress.

Thanks,

Joey
