I just bought a used engine for parts. The po told me it had chromemoly pushrods in it. The pushrods have mpr 1000 written on them. Are these manton? If not does anyone know what they are?

Manton does not print anything on thier pushrods.

Come to think of it, i've never seen a pushrod with print on it?

The number is paint type print. They are also black in color. How can I tell if there chromoly? The engine did have dual spring heads on it.

Steel is magnetic and aluminum is not.

Are all steel pushrods chromoly?

Mine are about 25 years old. It is taking me a long time to get around to using them. I am about to pull them out and check them with a magnet.

I was told to adjust the valves to .004 with them but I keep reading about setting chromoly to loose zero.
