I'm looking to get that front rusty 2 inch part under the windshield replaced and have my 1977 Westy repainted. Any good experiences or recomendations in this area? How much would you expect to pay? I'm gonna pull the windows out, but leave doors on. Exterior paint only, and I'll put the windows in.
Help or advice appreciated!! |

| I had my '72 Panel painted at 1 Day Paint and Body located in San Bernardino. Their number is (909) 888-0286. I had my bus painted cream white and orange. I did all the prep work and had it ready to paint. The orange color I wanted cost a bit more the their standard colors but the total cost was around $1200. I was very happy with the service and the manager Juan Morales was very fun to work with. This isnt a pristine paint job but I am very happy with the quality. My paint job is now three years old and still looks great. |

| I have auto body in my high school, and people can take their cars in here and have the students paint or repair the car for the price of materials. Just a alternative thought. |

Maximan1, I think I am currently in the autobody class at your school - as it is the last ROP one in the area. Costs $200 a simester, and you learn the tricks of the trade too. If you're going to get a high-school student to do your bus, make sure they are capable. You should have to sign a school form stating the terms of the job.

Hey alikatcraig. I go to Fullerton High. I'm thinking you probably don't go to this school, because they don't teach adults and it's free for me.
Yes, they do make you sign off on a paper, and the teacher is there all the time. He only lets the more experienced or more inclined students do any work really. Most of my class is a bunch of retarded stoners who do nothing but sit around all day and play poker or mess with stuff. I'm just about the only person who does anything. |

Glad to hear that you're serious about your 'shop' class. Most school districts in SoCal have eliminated 'vocational education' classes, due to budget problems and, exactly what you said about most students who sign up for the classes.
Go for it, maximan1! Maybe you'll inspire others in your class to also get serious about learning new skills. Best wishes with your body/paint project(s). |

Thanks WestyPop. Yeah, many schools have closed their ROP programs down, but our school is expanding ours haha...we just got a new paint booth put in, 2 new extremely expensive paint guns, all new tools, new lift, and nobody really puts them to good use.
I'm working on repainting my mom's 2005 Hyundai Sonata right now, then I am going to be restoring my '78 bus. I just got the Hyundai in primer last week, and it's going well. There was a lot of dents all over this car, and the clear on the hood was fading and cracking due to neglect. It gets better day by day. I have some bondo-ing to do, then guide coat and sand the entire car, then wetsand and then I can paint.

geez 5 years old and it needs paint? We had to sue Hyundai to get them to honor a recurring dual-mass flywheel failure on a car under warranty. Do they have paint problems too? |

No, my mom can't drive. Every panel had a dent or two. |

What car shows have you won? Can you tell us about your award winning restorations? I'd be curious to see one or two. |

Yes, they do. You should see my wifes 04 SanteFe. Clear coat is toast, and I see many of them here in town that look the same. Still, it has been a great car with 100k+ trouble free miles on it. |
