| I know people will pick this car apart, but man, that is a nice Bug. Would make a great daily driver with all the creature comforts it has(A/C, nice stereo, disc brakes, good suspension, tinted windows). I'm not a big fan of the air filter though..... :) |

Correct, I removed the 72 fenders, replaced them with 73 so I could put in the low profile lights on the rear, felt it gave it a smoother look.. as well as colour coding the fender piping.. |

Nice car, but a couple of questions.......Where did you get the tails from? I've seen them, but not those red/red/clear lenses.........Also, why did you go with "t-bars" for the rear but different up front?........And lastly, what size motor are you running w/air conditioning? Thanx and once again, nice ride. |

Found the lenses on CIP1.com, US versions, I have the T- Bars, but wanted to have a smoother look to the car in the front.. running stock 1600cc but well tuned. thanks for the positive comments.

I think it looks really good.
My only suggestion would be for it to be much, much lower. Don't you have really flat roads in FL? :D |

I agree, but with 15" rims, running 145's in front and 185's on rear, I have lowered it as much as I can without rubbin' the front left tire... Would gladly accept any advice on ways to further lower it. I considered 14" rims and 135's, but then it doesn't seem to fill out the tire well enough.. Bart
PS thanks for the positive comments! |

What have others done with Supers to lower them further? |

I really like it. There's something very retro about it with those wheels. Overall it gives a very good impression in my opinion.
One note about the fire extinguisher. I would keep it in the passsenger compartment. Precious seconds are wasted trying to open the front lid to get to the extinguisher. |

It looks like there's at least 2" of fender gap in the front. Does dropping it down the next notch on the struts lower it far enough to have rubbing problems?
One thing you could do to help, since those aftermarket chromies don't have a good offset for lowering, is to go with the later stock 4-lug wheels with the higher offsets. Later Beetles had 4.5" wheels with a 41mm offset and Ghias, Type 3s and Type 4s had 46mm offsets. Those would tuck the wheel in a little more and give you a little more room to play with before fender rub becomes a problem. |

| mount it on the tunnel. as far as tires, I'm running 175/55/15s and don't rub on anything at all. You could try germanlook.com for suspension questions( they mostly run supers over there). |

Next notch down causes a rub... I'll look at higher off set wheels, but I do like the look of the chromies. :) thanks! |

What springs are you running, stock or shorter ones? You may be able to play with different springs to be able to drop it to the next notch without rubbing. |
