The pillar should work with no problem. |

| Agreed, the pillar should work. A little cutting, and a little welding, and some grinding, and you'll be good to go. Try and cut only what you need to on the car side, and trim the replacement pece to fit. You can use the other side for measurements, as VW kept them symetrical. Good luck, and I hope this helps. |

| Electrical problems suck. I believe some or all of your problems could be grounds. I had problems with one headlight only working on low beam and the other on high beam but the pair would never come on at the same time. After checking the fuses I tracked it down to poor contact for the ground wires. Now the problem I have on my fasty is what you have with Item 1. Someone might have a better idea but you will need to start with the wires for the turn signals and work your way back to the switch. A good idea if you have not done so is to print off the wire diagram in the Technical section and take notes. Good luck and post what you find because I will be doing the same thing once it warms up again. |

Check all connections, and possibly grounds.
If this is one of those new style 9 pin flashers, be sure you have it wired properly. |

Get some dielectric grease
clean ALL connections (at the lights, behind the gauges, fuse box)
put a little grease on the connectors and make sure they are tight
good luck |

| If you have a good set of 67 doors you might as well use them. The only difference is the push/pull door lock on the 67. The 66 has a lever lock on the inner door handle. |

| Do do you have early 3 bolt door hinges if not than no 66 is the frist year for the 2 bolt |

No, it doesn't work that way. The hinges themselves are different in thickness and mounting position.
I'd use the 67 doors, and replace the inside latch / handle and rod assembly with the 66 parts you already have. It might not be correct, but it will allow you to fit the pillar and rear fender, and check your alignment. If you wait long enough, a 66 door might become available in your area (Murphy's Law; you replace it with an expensive part, then a cheap one turns up). |
