Not VW specific, but does anyone know of a realistically priced manufacturer or supplier for alloy or aluminum wheels with customer specified backspacing and lug patterns?

when you throw that "realistic price" out there, you might as well give up now. for some reason people think it is super cheap to produce a wheel, especially when it will be the only four like it. forget it on a cast wheel, unless you are ready to toss out about $30000.00 dollars to create a mold then test it, then have to buy atleast 200 pieces on top of that of one thing. your best bet are the billet wheel companies, like boyd, billet specialties and such to build one off wheels. but dont expect it to be cheap. now if you want a bolt pattern and offset to be used on one of their styles and it is feasible for it to be made to your specs, then that is no more expensive then what they normally charge. one off style and specs will be outrageous.

Not looking for a custom design. I'm trying to locate a source for 16 and 17" wheels 8-8 1/2" wide in 5x100 pattern with an offset as close to "0" as possible. Even companies that make steel wheels require minimum purchases of 4 to 8 sets of wheels. That's not realistic for me. I need 4 wheels98 maximum). These are for a track car that does HPDE events. High terminal speeds (130+) and high cornering Gs (+2-+3Gs). Trying to accomodate wider tire without using spacers.

your best bet is hre's new c70 (competition) line. they can build to your specs and is a wheel built for track, but will be like 4200 for the set.

edit: only 17", no 16"

Have you looked into steel wheels from companies like Diamond or MRT?

Doesn't Airkewld do this?

It's easier to change the lug pattern at the hub, rather than change the wheel. You can get the wheel you want, and the bolt pattern at the hub you want......you just gotta pay for it. Airkewld might be your best bet for different bolt pattern options.

These guys only build per order. You set the backspacing and bolt pattern.

This is one of their suppliers so you can get a price idea. But you can also deal straight with Bonspeed to get the correct info.

Your basically looking at about $1800 on a set of 17's, any style. I think that's cheaper than Airkewld. Airkewld uses Billet Specialties.

Airkewld Mon Jan 21, 2008 7:59 am

Starting at $1500 a set for 17's

I call BS on this one. Let see some hard facts. No one is going to build a built per order set of 18's for a grand. Especially not Boyd! Link us a few websites. Boyds 18's range from $340-1100 a piece!

Have a look.

yes, all those billet companies build like that. the problem is, they may not take the abuse he is trying to subject them to. the hre wheels, i recommended, are designed for racing.

Lets see,$340x4=$1,360;pretty close to $1,000! Alo,Boyd's wheels are very popular on body dropped minitrucks,so 0 offset is a MUST. Pick up a copy of MiniTruckin' magazine;any wheel manufacturer that makes custom to order rims is listed in there.

Bogart does a very nice job on custom wheels. They also make different styles / off sets in their pre-designed wheels to order. It's not a big deal since most wheels are pieced together. As for price "one off" wheels are often WELL over $1,000 each vs. several hundred for something already cut & mass produced.

they can get (shipped to my door) 17X7 in 4X130 pattern for ~$265
17X7.5 for 310 or so.

I'm looking to buy wheels from Bogart, but they don't answer mail and I didn't found any webshop.

Can someone tell me how to get Bogart wheels?

Thanks
