The problem is there are no machine shops here in Norcal who can do the precision head and case work on a T4. I thought about buying the equipment and doing it as a side business to service the community since I know how to do it right, however the amount of money people here are willing to pay for services isn't worth the time, and we already have one specialist in high-end T4 motors so a second isn't needed. All it would do is create surplus highend T4 motors and both of us would lose out.

a surplus?

From the high end T4 builders message board:
Quote: Due to the changes in the kit program, we have 3 slots open for November engagement with delivery in February of 2012.

There will be no engine kits produced again until November of 2012 with a limited run of six kits that are to be delivered in February of 2013.

That doesn't come across like there would be too many available in the market if someone else stepped up with their own offering. Competition in the market is good when were talking about quality offerings.

Not sure what message board that is from but it sounds like someone clearly understands fundamental economic principles and how changes in supply/demand affect pricing.
