I went to this show the last 3 years Gary did it-- as long as you had plenty of cold drinks and a shady spot, it was an awesome time-- Dyno Don kept everyone entertained, and I always took tons of pics!
Looking forward to being a part of this again! |

Bob, SOME SoCal shows, like some that were held 2x per year, called the "Scumboree" or something like that, I was actually glad to see the demise of, and although some of the reasons were personal ( after having been thrown uncerimoniously off the stage, camera first, into the dirt, although I had all my press credentials, clearances, etc and had just eaten lunch with Al Martinez 2 hours previously, and Stephan and Dean were both up there shooting for their respective magazines, and when I told Al what had happened, I never got so much as an "ooops, our bad", "I'm sorry, can I help pay for the damages to your Nikon camera my security goons caused?" or even so much as a "screw you, deal with it" from them... That was the last Scumboree I ever went to, and told my boss at the time I would have him fire me, rather than go to one of those shows again) but also on a public level... there was more parts swiped off cars in the parking lot during that show, than was in the swap meet to begin with... Stolen Green verts, and a general "give a shit" attitude" by Al Martinez and his crew, made me glad to see it gone.
The Panic! On the other hand, was put on in a terrific location, by a guy who wasn't in it solely for the money; he was in it for the cars and the camaraderie. He's not a big time promoter, he is one of us, who had worked his a$$ off to get that show off the ground. I'm glad to hear that the Panic! is back, and I hope it never goes away again.
and yeah, that patented "High C" and
"ba ba ba BA- ba BAAAAHHHHH !!!"
from Mr. Chamberlin, helped make the show.
Good on you, Gary Justus, for bustin' butt once again, and gettting the Panic! to re-emerge. |

I'm with you Dave. The Panic is a wonderful show I can't wait for it to return.
It is not often a VW show can shut down city streets.
Ditto on the Jamboree. Gangs, oops  "Clubs" used to use it as a meeting place to settle scores or score drugs. It was an embarrassment. I remember when a "Best of Show" went to a piece of plastic with a V8 in it. (but fat Al's guys painted it) |
