Here is my 60 single cab, Dual Treasure chest. It really was a dove blue bus. Has "closely matching" blue faded house paint on it. You can see the custom brush strokes up close.

Here's my bus after getting all the suspension & brakes done. Not slammed, but low enough to look and ride good. I think it's time to wash & wax the OG paint again to bring the shine up.

Gnome, what is the story on those mirrors. Me likey.

The Gnome Fri Aug 08, 2008 6:25 am

I found the mirrors for $5 at a flea market. The guy told me they were off a 1950's american truck. Since my bus has broken off hinge pin mirror arms and I didn't feel like trying to get them out yet, I decided to make custom arms to mount mirrors to the body. I used existing holes in the window frames (looks like they were from trucker mirrors) and made curved steel arms and aluminum mounts. They work pretty good and look cool too.

Thought I would ad some progress shots. I could have this done a lot quicker, but I work away during the week.

What are you using to get that paint off the oe paint. Are you using the spray bottles to apply it?

wow that panel is looking great.keep up the great work...

I'm using kwikstrip paint stripper to get rid of the top 4 or 5 layers, then I use a combination of graffiti remover #4 & 5 and stuff called muck off. The muck off is good, but if it finds any way under the OG paint it will lift the edges, works well though.
