Thanks for the help keifer, but I think I have huge problems now!
I found that it was actually the pilot bearing inside the gland nut which had completely fallen apart.
I went and replaced the the gland nut with a new one with a good pilot bearing.
We dont have a torque wrench and at the end of a long day, we put too much pressure on the gland nut and cracked it off!!!
The shaft is stuck inside the engine and I have no idea how to get it out!!!!
Is there anyway or am I totally screwed on this one?????
Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

| If you broke the gland nut off the threaded part should unscrew fairly easy as there should be no tension on it except for maybe loctite (if you put some of that on the threads...). Hopefully you did not cross thread the damn thing... use a chisel and "reverse it out" using the chisel and hammer..... if that doen't work let us know... Anyone else have a handy tip for this one????? |

Thanks again for the words of wisdom. I got the nut out and put a new one in.
Just got the bus running and almost all is well. (No more oil leaks!!)
However, the gear shifter is a bit out of place. I am playing around with the plate on the floor to adjust it but when I go to first, I am over too far and have to move it back in an inch or two to get from neutral into first.
Cannot seem to find out how the adjustment is except through the plate.
Any thoughts would be great!!
Thanks again! |
