Thanks again for your update.
We are all praying for your continued success in this endeavor.
Continued best wishes.
Regards,

p.s. For those who have little background info or knowledge of this medical topic (that includes myself), and who desire to know more, I would suggest Googling any or all of the following three terms:
1. stomach cancer
2. treatment of stomach cancer
3. prognosis for stomach cancer

Sure! Should we round up the usual suspects and plan a short vintage VW Rundfahrt in the wine country?

Wow, Erich, I didn't realize you were on the verge of "Official Old Phart-dom"--congratulations are in order, I would say.

Well folks it's been an interesting past few weeks. First off I have been off Chemo for the past week. Since I have had 6 cycles of Chemo. I get a break from the drugs.
Second is I saw my doctor on Tuesday and I cannot get any Clinical Trials. A Clinical Trial is an experimental drug they test on you. I am not getting it because my cancer is not measureable. Meaning they can put a ruler on my stomach and say; you went from 7cm to 6cm in the past month.
But my doctor said he wanted to ad a drug to my Chemo that cuts off blood supply to tumors. So we shall see how it goes.

Friends,
Today I had my first round of the new Chemo. It had been a few weeks since I had Chemo and I have enjoyed the time off from the drugs.
I have a bowel obstruction so I have not been able to eat. We hope the new Chemo drugs will help out with that.
We will see.
Erich

Bowel obstruction... Dude... don't you know you're not supposed to eat the extra large triple cheese pizza by yourself! Jeez... next time invite Ray, Mark and Chris over.

you may be sick... but don't forget your common sense boy... common sense.

I am not always thinking of you, and it's normal because i don't know you personally. But, as a fellow beetle lover, i wish you all the best, and guess you know, a strong character and a positive thinking gets over anything.
I am glad to see that you are still with us and share news, and i am sure it will get better for you.

Get well Erich!
The VW enthusiasts need good people like you!

Mihai from Romania.

Erich;

We all missed you and Wendy and Karsten last Friday at the GGVVWCA meeting. Hope you're feeling at least a little better. We are all thinking about you all the time....every day.

Can't help but flash back on Wendy driving down to SoCal show last year in your "new" car. Memorable.................................Pete

I wanted to say hi Erich. How are you feeling? Kyle

Genrich Thu Aug 07, 2008 4:20 pm

Friends,
I wanted to update you and let you know what's going on.
Yesterday I had Chemo and I feel pretty good today. Alot of my friends say I have never looked better. My energy level has gone up 10fold.
Thank God for that because my 7 month old son has started to crawl!

My wife Wendy and I have sold a couple of cars in the past few months.
The 62 Ghia that we bought in December sold to a nice man in Las Vegas.
We only owned the Ghia for a few months but it was bought as an investment anyway.
The other car I sold was my 91 Jetta GLI. It was my first new car. It was sold to a guy in Utah. The Jetta was parked since December when my son was born and we needed a bigger car. The Jetta served me well for over 17 years and 223K. I was a little sad to see it go.

Other then that I feel I can beat this Cancer. I feel good and look better.
Erich
