This thread rang a bell with re 1988 issue of Hot VW mag.

I have a copy of that issue Aug 1988. Verified the picture in the classified section.

There was an article etc of the De Coppen bros Dragster which said they built it but in true reality I was the one who did and still have my receipts.

Sold it w/o engine as I moved to Mexico City after getting married.

Some more photos I posted on the site Gallery a while back but not in this thread:

I found and installed this nicer deck lid T-handle a while back:

I swapped over the key cylinder so it's still using the original cylinder.

I also picked up a nicer original cargo door handle from Lind some time ago.
I installed that too - thanks Lind.

Also an original kick panel, with new wood & new piping:

The metal seat plate is black now as well.

You can see they over-sprayed the red paint on the floor mat, I guess in 1990 you didn't remove the floor mats when you painted. I need to work on that.

that bus has an interesting life. I too remember the add for that bus in the back of the old HVWs. crazy how things work.
