DUDE! I virtually have the same bike (different plastics) how do you like it? what have you done to it? and what year is yours i believe they stopped those shrouds in 96. I can not kill mine it's a monster on the trails, runs with new 450's all day unless we are at the dunes 8)

I like it alot, but it's for sale. Mine's a '93. It's had motor work done to it, and the suspension also. I had Eric Gorr do the 265 kit and porting, and House of Horsepower did the suspension. This thing rocks in the woods and in the desert. The SX tranny works well in the woods, but tops out quick.....it's pretty short winded at about 62-63 mph max. It'll go faster, but I don't like to ring 'em out that far.

 .....bet thats hand full!
it can be

Jengel451 wrote: is that an H1 or H2 lump? Either way, it would be a hoot. I've been toying with the idea of finding an old H2 road racer and vintage racing it. I tried one on the track one day and it felt like it was trying to tie itself into a knot the whole way down the straight. My hat is off to you.

I'll bet it's an S3(KH400) or smaller cc. LOL, nice.

mines a 93 as well had to redo the ignition with a pvl unit, factory rebuild on the suspension, boysen power reeds, FMF fatty gold an power core 2, and an 11oz flywheel weight. Tranny does need a little more gear though.

Yep. I think the GPZ550 was voted easiest bike to ride for a few years back in the 80's, and best all-around 550 from the Big Four. Sadly, most of the GPZ550's I saw were in the back of our shop in our boneyard. Nice to see one still standing (and running?).

Yeah, mine also has a PVl ignition. I run Boysen f/g reeds, c/f don't last. I run the stock flywheel. This thing works really good in the woods as it is now.

Did wind-up with an FXR afterall.....'88 107".

Haven't spend much time on a GAS GAS, but have wanted to. Not sure what I'd get for another bike, this thing is just too bulletproof!
Here are two the first was taken last year, and the second 3 years ago.

Cool, I'll bet the frame doesn't suffer from any flexing like the stockers did back in the day, ha ha. Those aren't Toomey or Bassani pipes, are they?
