when i was 19, i was working on my 56 beetle one day, and lost the bolts that attach the decklid, so i decided to use cheese head screws (big mistake), one of the screws had boogered threads and i just tried to power thru it- but the flathead screwdriver jumped out of the slot and i ran the tool right into my eye. the tool was nearly new, so it cut my cornea nearly all the way thru, so eye doctor had to STITCH IT UP  fortunately, it was way off to the side, so it didnt mess up my vision
Are you blind in that eye?
 well it looks like I'm blind in one eye and can't see out the other

Wrenching under my speedster and the wrench slipped and sliced the outside of my left hand little finger second knuckle to the bone. I looked at it and it wasn't bleeding. I held my breath, counted to three and as soon as the blood started it hurt like a SOB!!!!!!! Went in and freaked my mom out with the blood running down my arm. Wrapped it up anhd kept working....

real close to going all the way thru- apparently no fluid leaks out unless it goes all the way thru. much like skin, there are layers and the eye doc said i cut thru all but one. so yes, i still have BOTH eyes workin fine, and a great scar which is under the eyelid, so it didnt make me any uglier than i am already
the second worst accident happened in sept last. i cut my forearm open with a cut off wheel. again i was real lucky that it didnt cut the muscle. but i lost a cup of blood as i did cut thru a vein.
might seem like i am accident prone, but those two incidents happened 30 years apart. |

We must have the same luck. As we speak my eye has Silicone Oil inside of it instead of vitreous (long story), and I nearly cut off my left hand with a chop saw about 3 years ago (cut through all the muscle, extensor tendons, etc).
I've adopted the motto that it's not a project until it's been blessed with blood. |

| One of my friends came over to help me take out my gas tank. He crawled under the car and was pushing up on the tank when it slipped and he got two punctures on his hand. He was very embarrassed and he tells everyone that it was a snake bite. |

Tried to stop a small block 400 from hitting the pavement with my leg. Right before impact I thought, BAD IDEA! It was. Crutches for three days and a permanent dent in the leg. But I saved the motor!

| I have tooo many injuries to bother listing all, but a few of the worse are: shattered elbow (replacing fuel lines in an s10 blazer), broken finger (closing a door @ the j-yard), & knowing EVERY automotive fluid by sight, smell, and TASTE including bad brake fluid (had a rubber brake hose explode in my face while working on a scirocco) |

Back in around 84 I was working on my 69 beetle at dusk around the fuel pump while it was idling. The next thing I know I hooked up with the fan belt with my right index and middle finger and had them run up around and through the generator pulley. I was really amazed at the time that they were all still attached. Then the pain set in for three or four days.I was lucky that nothing was broken (that I know of). Had never thought they could bend backwards that way as they conformed to the v belt groove.
Funny thing is that it did not throw the belt off. |

Not working on a car, but I was helping a friend put up some siding/plywood on a garage he was building. I was using a nail gun.
I don't know what happened but I was holding the plywood up with my left hand and put the nail gun to the wood and pulled the trigger, my left hand was apparently too close to where I was nailing.
There was a hard kick back on the nail gun and it bounced and hit the top of my hand and my finger pulled the trigger and I nailed my hand to the plywood.
That hurt. |
