Anyone familiar with tachometer? It's 12-volt and 80 mm. 80 mm is the size for the optional center grill on a Beetle, correct?

Correct.
Though this tach looks far too new to fit an oval beetle dash..
In my opinion this one has the best face to fit any zwitter-oval, cause it matches the speedo:

| Good point. Thanks for confirming it is the same size and would fit. |

| Sorry to dredge up an old thread but anyway, these were mainly installed in Volvo equipped boats in the 60's and 70's, and blood red pointers in general indicate a marine or stationary (industrial) application. |

Thanks for the information.
Hmmm, I can't remember if I still have that somewhere... |

Here's one in a Volvo console:
They're basically the same as aftermarket VDO tachs made primarily for VWs from 1967 up to 1980 or later, except that most VW tachs have a cylinder selector switch and signal tuning knob after about 1971 (I have a Cockpit Jet tach that's dated 2/71). |
