Hi guys (and gals). Another question for you. I've heard that you can get flame to shoot out of your tail pipe if you put a spark plug in the side and hook it up to your battery. I was wondering if this is fact or fiction. If so, will it work with a catylitic converter? Thanks in advance.

I guess that if your engine was running rich, it could be possible. They do make a kit that does it. However, it's illegal for street use. (shhh) They advertise it in Hot VW's & VW Trends. It runs for $100.

The street rodders use to do that a few years back. You may want to check on one of the forums for them. The car has to be running a bit rich for it to work or there won't be anything to burn. I wouldn't think that would be real good if you have a catalytic converter though.

I've seen this done when I lived in NC. Non vw, but same principle. He ran rich enough to make some flame but opted to hook a propane line up from a dispoable canister to the exaust(semi-truck style vertical exaust behind the cab) to really shoot the fire. I don't how this was done but I made sure to stand far away when he demonstrated how big a flame it would produce. I'm not recomending it, just saying I've seen it. seems like a good way to set your vehicle/self on fire to me.
