When my last motor died, I had a stock 1600SP engine installed in my 70 Westy. The mechanic indicated that it was rebuild from a bug engine that was obviously a 1600SP. I noticed that some (if not all) bug engines with 1600SP have two tip stock exhaust. From what I have read, it looks as if buses have the single tip stock exhaust. Is it okay to put the single tip stock exhaust on my 1600SP even though it came from a bug?

Also, which would be better to use on a stock 1600SP: stock exhaust or those single quiet pack type exhaust systems? Thanks.

You can go with the single tip, and you should. The bus creates a big vortex behind it that sucks the exhaust up, and if there are any leaks in your seals the exhaust can enter the bus body, if you go with the dul tip. Mine has dual, and though it's not awful, I do catch a whiff of exhaust now and again. I'm gonna fix that soon though, and if you need a new exhaust anyways, you might as well get the right one (single tip)!
