I purchased my first single cab this weekend. $2500! The paint is nice and dusty, but I believe there is some quality stuff under there. It's not original though, it was white from the factory. I'm really happy because I didn't think I would be able to ever afford another split in my lifetime. I guess the PO didn't know what he had. I plan on buffing out the paint this weekend and replacing the fuel lines. I looked up the VIN and it is a January of 58. Anybody got a rear bumper for me?

Great score! What's up with the dash? That looks like the perfect candidate for a careful wetsand job.

Thanks you all, I really wish it wasn't gonna rain this weekend, I want to buff out some paint and dig in. I have been just rolling it as it is. I'm not gonna slam it, but I'll cruise it around in a state of arrested decay. I still have yet to open the treasure chest, but wait till this weekend, I'm sure my rear bumper will fall out. I'm pretty sure the logo says Extra Zip, what ever that is. I haven't been able to see where in the stratigraphy of oxidized paint that particular layer settles out, but I'll try to see what I can do. It has been really fun blasting around town with a 60hp single port connected to a transmission that was geared to scoot 3/4 ton around town with 36hp. So this weekend If the rain cooperates, I'll get some better paint shots, and I'll be updating this thread as things progress. Oh yea, that dash actually looks like a dried up lake bead of cracking decaying paint. Ya think wet sanding that will bring it back?

Sorry, i wasn't too clear in my last post. Have the vertical slots in the dash been filled? Or are my eyes playing tricks on me? Also, the entire bus would probably look awesome after a careful wetsand. I would love to find a single cab or panel bus in that condition, for that price. Way to go!
