| Ok guys I don't own this car its a lady friend from work who does. She is having some trouble and has no idea how to go about it so she asked for my help. I have never owned a vw but my brother has had several only his were more the antique kind. So he suggested i come here. My friends passat has a beeping noise coming from in the car. Actually there are two of them. One beeps when she turns the car own and a different more high pitched one comes on while she is driving the car. I don't have a clue. The check engine light was on so she went to the local autozone and had them put their tester on it and here are the codes it read. 1)MAF input is lower than expected.2)O2 sensor 1 in bank 1 was too slow during testing.3)EGI glow plug secondary failure.4)Both driver and passenger electrodrive fan failure. Would these codes be making some sort of alarm beeping noise or is there something else causing the noise. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. |

| There is no beep for a check engine light. If the oil, washer, coolant, abs, or airbag lights were on then the dash would beep to make sure you notice the warning light. |

| I didn't see any of those lit up on her dash. But the guy she bought it from said the person he bought it from had somethings mounted directly into the speedometer and so he drilled them out and it left holes going into the speedometer. What do you think that could have been. I don't know of anyone who would mount like say a boost gauge or something directly into the speedo. Seems a lil fishy to me. But thanks for the info and i'll have her check those fluid levels. |

| since it had a fault for glow plug i am going to guess its a tdi. sounds like she needs a maf sensor, possibly a glow plug or glow plug harness, an B1S1 O2 sensor and you need to check the cooling fans. turn your ac on low and see if they work on low or only work on high. |

something doesn't sound right. they didn't import a turbo passat to the US in 99.
my 2000 gives an audible warning when the check engine light is supposed to be on(PO discnnected it  ). If I reset the codes (I had a bad MAF), it doesn't sound. as soon as I get the light back, it will sound approx ten seconds after I first drive the car, then again about 5 seconds later. If I just let it idle and don't drive it, it will never sound. |

Actually, there is a mod where a series of leds for a boost gauge are mounted in the gauge face, but it is geneerally done in the tach face, not the speedo. To be honest, there are a lot of crazy ass mods people do to Passat turbos. |
