| How do they keep it upright? I've watched the video and it's shown upright and the guy just tilts it sideways by himself. Did they remove some bolt holding it and let it balance by itself until he got over there to pull it down? |

| Sorry, I lost this thread. There are stops to keep the body from hitting the post and a bolt to keep the car upright. |

That's cool but isn't the center point of gravity too high? It looks top heavy, like it could tip over..
I've been debating to do something similar except that the supports are on the outside in the front and rear of the bug. The mount is a pipe with a welded on piece that drops down. It from there goes to a crossmember that mounts onto the bumper mounts. The centerpoint of gravity is lower this way.
Here's a quickly doodled up sketch of what I had in mind:

I made this drawing that I copied from a video on the Samba, took it to the local welding shop and had them weld it up. Anyone with basic welding skills should be able to build it themselves.

I think the cost was around $350, they supplied the tubing. I bought the wheels at Harbor Freight for like $12 ea. I found all the info for this stand on the Samba, I can't remember just where.
Here is a picture of my '67 Vert on the stand during the undercoating removal phase.

Yeah, I had seen the stops to keep it from hitting the post and the bolt the first time I watched the video. I was asking how he kept it upright and balanced before pulling it sideways (vid doesn't show him loosening the bolt before pulling it down). I'm just going to assume there is enough friction in the tubing to keep it balanced for that short amount of time. |

Yes, I opened this up again.
I was wondering if you could give me the measurement of the height of the bug on the rotisserie, sitting up right.
I want to know if I have enough room in my garage.
Thanks |
