While I don't see banner ads anymore thanks to a script/ad blocker, I definitely know what you mean. I absolutely hate banner ads that make noise on their own.
When I lived in the dorms, I used to keep my PC running pretty much 24/7, including AIM. Around the time that The Ring came out, they also had an AIM ad for it. For several nights after seeing the movie, and usually right around 2AM, the banner would change and I'd get this blood curdling cat/boy meow. It took my roommate and I a few nights to figure out where the sound was coming from. Scared the bejeesus outta me. After that I've been vehemently opposed to any sort of noisy banner ads.
Everett, any way you can make a stipulation to advertisers that they cannot have audio play automatically with their adverts?
Cheers! |

I rarely have my sound on unless I am listening to background music or watching a vid or skype...

There should not be any ads with sound.
Please send me the domain name that is advertising and I will block it.
Example: www.lamesoundad.com
I have never seen this ad - it may only appear in your area. |

| Those are Google Ads. Google decides what is relevant based on the page content. You may see ads that others do not as it can be location-specific at times. For instance, I see ads for Arizona car dealers occasionally. |

| Just so EV doesn't think I'm crazy, I found a reason why I was getting those annoying moving ads.... our IT guys found a Spyware "trojan" program running on my laptop - this program lowers the browsing security levels on my PC, then looks for advertising content and replaces the normal Samba ads with their own different and more annoying ads.... I think things are more normal now... |
