I replace the head gaskets and rubber seals but the heads still leak out of the top head bolt studs, what do I do, did I miss something. I should have replaced the heads as they were pitted and such but no money. I am now saving money for new heads. Are thier o-rings or something I am suppossed to put on the studs? Or goop? :?:

Out of the top head bolt studs? Those are studs with cap nuts, (not bolts) - so do you mean it's leaking at the cap nuts? Did you use a light coat of that sealant stuff under the cap nuts on assembly? It should have come with the head gasket set. The VW part number for that sealant is in the Bentley - letsssee here - AKD 456 000 01

On heads pitted there where the gasket seats, one stopgap type fix is to fill the whole pitted area down with JB Weld and then sand it smooth again. If the only choice is to reuse pitted heads I'd do that rather than put them on "raw".

Yes, I was wrong I have cap nut, I was following the Bently Manual and I do not recall anything in thier about putting the sealent on these nut. I thank you for correcting me on this, and I will reco the job and correct the problem. I have learned alot from this site from GREAT people like you and I must say THANK YOU!!! I will try the fix ,as soon as I get a chance. So far it is only leaking from the top two head cap nut's. And not from the head seals that mate with the block, I used a marine type goop and filled in the pitting. You Rock!!! :D :D :D :D
