I played one at a local shop the other day. For me (a hack) it was pretty nice and at 1/3 the cost of an american it was a deal.
ive been playing mexi and japanese fenders for a while. the mexi stuff is decent but about one in three are great. you just got to play a few to find the right one. as far as the japanese stuff goes i havent found a bad one yet. |

^^^^ i second that.
pulled so many mexi fenders apart while on my instrument making degree, some of them are shocking(poor routing, obvious bodge cover-ups bad finish) but others are spot on. best to get a sunburst one as they can only get away with using up to 3 pieces for the body block, stripped a black one to find 13 mismatched off-cuts of poplar. not good.
jap ones are amazing. og 60's are better tho. especially this one 8)
'69 fender swinger, factory made abortion made from leftover bass v and musicmaster parts chopped up a bit to look like a new instrument. i love this guitar, the neck is so short its a bitch to tune properly but its so crunchy and loud. production numbers are unknown but believed to be under 100. and no, im not selling :P
no strings cos i'm cleaning the fingerboard and readjusting the neck tonite  |

I know, I know I'm reviving it from the dead, but this is my other hobby.
Guitars:
'03 Mexi Tele
Fender Telecoustic (pos right there)
Agile AS-820 (decent Gibson ES-330 copy)
1937 Recording King Carson J. Robison (built by gibson and plays like a dream  )
No name strat copy (with semi correct headstock?!) - $45 craigslist deal
Yamaha EG-112 crappy beginner guitar that I put fur on and swapped in a fender pickup, it plays alright
1967 Deca/Heit Deluxe
Sammick Acoustic
Yamaha classical (saved from a kid at school who was gonna smash it  )
Homemade guitar, headstock's coming off
Homemade guitar from 2x4 and neck of a smashed guitar
Danelectro U1 (1990s repop) $45 craigslist SCORE!
Crappy $25 (new!) cheapo guitar that I hacked into a badass slide guitar (with built in cristmas lights  )
Amps:
Fender Frontman 25r
Pignose G40v (very nice cheap tube amp, i think it's similar to a tweed bassman circuit, gets that badass neil young distortion PERFECT)
Fender BXR300 (or something like that) bass amp $50 craigslist SCORE!
Smokey Amp
Not alot of high $$ stuff lot's of fun little goof around guitars, but the Agile and the Mexi tele are quite nice and make great tones. I also have some danelectro mini pedals, those work great except that the reverb one died. |

I love the shape of that guitar, it's a shame it's so short. Here's mine. I guess I'm just into weird shaped guitars :D
Yeah it's a Squier Super-Sonic but, it's extremely well made, even compared to American strats. Only made for a year and a half before the musicmaster killed the series.
Among other I've owned...
73 Fender P-bass
2000 ESP MH-300
2005 Fender Telecaster |

Can't find the damn pics on the PC and I am too tired to run back down and take another one.....found one.
Bass player - after owning everything (probably have owned 30 or so basses - 2 Ricks, countless Fenders and Gibsons, a first production run Stingray, Ibanez, Vox, and God knows what else) I am down to the following
-Highly modified Gibson EB3L (slotted headstock)
- Ash Explorer body with P/J pups and currently a Peavey neck (I built it about 25 years ago and I have completely redone it about 4 times. Its the one I get buried with.
- headless, fretless, chopped up Gibson Grabber with single J pup (my Jaco bass)
- Squire VM Jazz (70's style) - Don't laugh, this thing is waaaaay better than all of the mid 70s Jazz Basses that I had. This is my live gig bass.
- unnamed 60s Japanese bass that is identical to my first bass - found it on E-Bay - real piece of crap, but I had to have it.
- Peavey Tele copy 6 string - picked it up in a store one day for the hell of it - felt amazing - about 4 hours of set up and anyone that plays it is blown away.
- Squire 51 6 string - bought it for my guitar player for goofy tuning songs - I am not impressed.
- Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0 10" with extension cabinet. What's cool is going to a gig with ALL of my bass rig on the backseat of my 65 bug. 8) |

I dont think so - its a Tele copy with 2 strats and a Humbucker. I still want to find a better bridge pickup though. I got some suggestions from Dimarzio, but I haven't got around to messing with it again. |
