What is the breakdown on the gas tanks from 68 to 79. Which ones will fit what years. Can a 71 fit into a 69 and such. Thanks Kona

All the tanks will fit, but there is a difference between fuel injected tanks and carbed tanks. The fuel injected tanks have and outlet to the fuel pump and an inlet back into the tank from the fuel pressure regulator. You can use a fuel injected tank for either application by simply plugging the inlet if you have carb. However, if you have fuel injection you need a fuel injected tank with both fittings to prevent vapor lock.

What about the dimple on the bottom of the tanks? I noticed that some have the dimple on the bottoms and some don't..

I'm not sure about the dimple you mention. As far as I know the only significant difference is the fuel injected or non-fuel injected fittings. The later tanks also had the fittings on top of them for the emissions and vapor lines, but this wouldn't keep them from fitting other bay windows. Hopefully someone else is familiar with the dimple, but I am not. Take care.

Dimples are cute, on the right person.
