View original topic: '69 drum swap w/ '71 disc?
69 in St.Louis Thu Dec 19, 2002 7:25 pm

I have a '69 kombi that needs a master cylinder, front brake job, shocks etc... I also have a '71 that I may part out, and I'm wondering If I can swap out the front ends. This would allow me to get better braking, and perfom a rebuild while off the bus. Do I have to use a servo assited master cylinder? Does any other VW use this smaller bolt pattern?

the 71 beam will bolt right on the 69 but you need to have to use the servo master otherwise your wasting your time! it won't stop that good without it! and you need vaccum from the motor so you need the 71 bus manifold or if you have a single port in it you need to find a auto-stick manifold so you can get vacuum for the brakes.while your at it you might as well bolt on the 71 rear brakes and drums so you have matching rims!? the bolt pattern is bus only . steve
