| On the rear of my 70 pickup I have four dime-sized holes-- 2 on either side of the engine hatch, one at the top and one at the bottom. They were originally plugged with plastic caps. What do they do.why are they there? |

I think those were for rust-proofing access.
(that VW wax undercoating was good stuff when new, designed to reseal itself after getting nicked by gravel)
My '73 Bus still has the clear plastic plugs.
