SH, has your steering wheel got the wrong orientation there?
Lowdown Dirty Rat wrote: how do the deluxe steering column colours work????
ive seen them black, white and red in original documents/photos.
So whats right? did it change through the early years?
I'd say Barndoor Deluxe steering columns are always black. Red columns or white columns will have been repainted, incorrectly.
Examples of incorrect:
(handbrake too)
(gearstick too)
The (early) Hornbecker DLX has a black steering column. |

this has to be original paint, the Brochure was only published in 51.
interesting to see the wisks had the white but barnjunkies the black. both are considered to be all original paint buses, no? |

Yeah, red with red bracket! Guess cos it's a prototype dlx/very early production DLX/maybe linked to those early tri-colour DLXs

Yes
Here's another one...Johnny's Tom Tom DLX....
White column.....
& I see John has kept it white
Looking through my pics (of buses with columns that are likely to be og colour - not many) almost all are black...probably 10..then there's the brochure one above that appears to be red...& the two that appear to be white

the trends would also seem to suggest that the KCW column collar should aso be white, not black as they have it.
I think wisks is the only one i remember seeing which also has white brake and gear stick? |

There was an interesting story on NPR recently about the hats some of the Moai have/had. Here's an article about it.

Newly acquired '53, still with some non OG features to be removed, and a set of semaphores to install.

I have a 54 single that I am getting back on the road.
Here is the pod that I have made, it has Westach gauges, speedo, oil pressure, volts, oil temp, fuel level, boost and cylinder head temp. I also have a 3inch Tacho that will mount on the side in its own pod?mounting cup.
The switches are modern with barndoor nobs retro fitted.
All of this was done without touching any metal.
Thanks
