I've moved 7 times in the past 2007-2008 year time frame.
This is the last move for a LONG TIME.
Moving from a 1bd apartment to a 3bd house.
The space is going to be so nice...
I'll have a garage too. Space to work on the bug.... :-D

I have my entire apartment in boxes right now...

start time is 7am sharp.

Anyone else moving or recently moved?

I moved 25 times in the first 18 years of my life and only four in the subsequent 17. 8)
Now that the Real Estate market is cooling off I am looking to move again probably.

I've been living in the same 600sq. ft. apartment for over a year now and I'm suffocating. Fiance, 2 small dogs, 3 cars, no garage or backyard... so the plan for the next couple of months is to find a 3+ bedroom house with a nice garage and GTFO of this tiny appt...

If you need some help moving...

You should probably call somebody.

might think about owning a box truck instead of a VW ;)

I moved 18 or so times between birth and age 35.
It is a PIMA. Don't want to do it any more.

I have moved a few times recently, it always looks easy, but turns out to be a shitload of nonsense. I fucking hate moving! The saltwater tank is the worst!

Last time I moved was 1996. I have so much crap accumulated, I don't think I could ever move again.

Same here, Tom. I'll build an addition before I leave this spot.

Haven't moved since 1987. Before that I moved 8 times in 34 years, and I thought that was a lot until I read this thread.

The funny thing is, not once have I moved out of this area.

I haven't moved in 4 years. What a pain. When I do it again I will be hiring a moving company.

Moving in 30 degree temp with light snow tomorrow. Rounded up some physics graduate students to help me move (they owe me. I kept their cars running while i was in grad school and they helped me with my homework). Down side is except for comp sci majors, I can't think of a weaker group than phys grad students.

Have you ever pumped your own gas?

moved 11 times (i think) to 5 different states in my 19 years so far. looking at moving again within the year. but it wasn't all bad, got to meet people from all over the world in the different places I've lived.

but thats nothing compared to the amount I've seen here.

That's funny-and not obvious to anyone who has never lived in NJ.

moving sucks, but sometimes a good cleansing is what you need to start fresh.

No, I have never pumped my own gas, until I got the 65 and then the 62: the station attendants let me pump it because they feel funny about a fuel filler inside a trunk.

I used to go back to NJ a lot a few years ago. The first time I went I stopped at a gas station and got out and grabbed the pump and this guy comes running out waving his arms and screaming. I was all freaked out and asked him, "what? did I do something wrong?"
he looks at me and apparently notices I'm not a 'local' and asks, "From California?" it was funny, guess you had to be there....

Moving Day

It went off without a hitch. Started at 7am Saturday morning and went until 2am Sunday, "unpacking". the wife is a little neurotic so she wanted everything done before going back to work. So we unpacked all day Sunday and yesterday and are pretty much all done.

woo.

Quick Addition

i discovered my entire has is ran with Cat6 cable. I'm setting up the network tonight. I'm going to hack the Gibson and download the internet.

I've technically moved a few times in my life, but I've lived on the same road my whole life (33 years next month). So the few times I've moved, it really hasn't been too hard since I could do it in the back of a truck and trailer without really packing.

MDSuess Tue Feb 12, 2008 11:00 am

I've moved 16 times in 38 years. Had a single mom and then went in the Marine Corps. I think I'm doing a bit better for my kids. My daughter only remembers living in our current place and one other house. The Boy was born after we moved to our current place. Been here 9 years now.

We talked about moving last year, but figured a bigger place wasnt our style, we'd rather add on. I'm pushing for a 4 car garage (2 deep and 2 across) to supplement our current 2 car garage (raised ranch), but dont think its going to happen. If anything, it'll be a second place at the lake. Figure we can always 'divest' ourselves of a second place if we need the cash. Couldnt do that with any sort of addition. My arguement that we could turn the upstairs of the garage into an apartment for when the kids go to college (they're 6 years apart) didnt fly.
