Who here is into hacky-sack? I mean, fairly good at it? I have never been interested. What, if any, are some cool uses for the skills?

Impressing hippie chicks?

Wasting time mostly

I played a lot in High School and College, a little with my kids lately.

Good for foot eye coordination and kind of keeps you limber.

Hackey sack is an exlcelent cardiovascular workout, and is hard to play without the actual hackey sack. I can reccomend not trying it with fruits or bowling balls. they are not adequate substitutes!

it's good training for both soccer and sepak-takraw (asian foot volleyball)

For a minute, I thought they were kicking that high over a volleyball net.

How are you supposed to start to learn? Kick it back and forth? Or keep it in the air by yourself?

If you practice with someone else you won't get as tired. it definitely teaches control and helps with flexibility.

i still have one, we used to play in highschool between classes. i havent busted it out in a while but when i was playing getting to 21 and finishing with a pro jester in one shot was cake.

We play at work a few times a week. Its a good way to break up the day.

obus Fri Feb 08, 2008 7:19 pm

damn. i have not tried that in years. Even with my soccer background i had a hard time w/ the damn beanbag thing!

Tram Fri Feb 08, 2008 7:37 pm

I never even knew what those things were called till now.

Vanhag Fri Feb 08, 2008 7:46 pm

We used to play a lot in high school. If you broke the "no hands" rule the penatly was getting pegged hard with the bag. One day whilst playing near the road the hack went into traffic and landed in the back of a trailer with Missouri plates. Never saw that sucker again.

True story, A group of guys were playing hackey on the edge of angel's landing in Zion National Park. The hack went errant and some guy dove for it, and ended up slidding and falling off a 900 foot cliff. Dude! It's just a sack, let it go!

HACKY SACK = STINKFOOT

Towel Rail Fri Feb 08, 2008 10:37 pm

I played it some around the turn of the century, but I haven't had many friends lately who were into it. Oh well, I was never good at it...

slamnfreak Fri Feb 08, 2008 10:57 pm

I still play occasionally. My hack is sitting on top of my monitor on my desk at work.
