You're right. I can be a bit arrogant at times. Mostly, I'm just an asshole.
Your words are like a sword, they cut through the crap. Thanks for your input.

Look the last 2 pages were blown out of proportion. I didnt say you cant do what you want with the car. I didnt say I want the car back. I just stated that its sad to see it stock highth but not even stock whene it could have looked alot better had it been finished in the direction it was going. I do not want the car back
BUT I did want the beam and spindles back thats why we spoke on the phone and you were not willing to work with me because you didnt know how to do the work yourself.
I offered to buy the beam and spindles I gave Eddie a stock beam or 2 along with a bunch of other stuff
And even offered to pay to have the car switched back to stock so I could get the front end back but you simply said NO
this is why I was/am mad

I dunno either of you but DAMN, the both of you are looking terrible right now, I don't know what spelling has to do with anything but if you are going to rag on a guys spelling you should make sure YOUR spelling is also correct or you just look even worse, you are making the whole vw community look bad, this looks more like the rants than a build thread. Let the car go, stop being an arrogant ass, and lets see some more pics of the build.

just my .02, I like the car better the way you bought it, but its a cool car either way, I've always wanted a ragtop.

If anyone could imagine I tried trading my lowered beam, dropped spindles, 135 R15s everything one would need to drop their car. In return I wanted something else cool...anything fun or some parts that I needed. With this I wanted a stock beam installed and the rear end raised. I had tons of calls. Chase called late and asked if I would trade, we talked, he conveyed he had neither the time or money after I suggested paying the shop down the street $50 an hour for labor. I really didn't want to do the work due to the busy schedule I have. I didn't think Chase was interested? He would have to pay labor, shipping, etc for both my parts and his. I agreed it was a bit pricey.

Let me also say in all fairness that there were lots of guys interested, I had people lined up to do the swap on many different occasions and no one came through. I spent many hours on the phone talking to many people and they all wanted the trade. For someone who wanted to pimp their ride, had a few parts that I needed to bring it to stock, lived in Arizona, had time, was mechanically knowledgeable, I thought this was a pretty sweet trade. Chase could not do this because of the distance between he and I. He's in Nevada, I'm in Arizona. He did seem upset, but without funds, time, money I wasn't going to just give it away and pay for shipping and a mechanic to install it. Chase, maybe you had something else in mind? I never just said "no!".

After many failed attempts to do the trade. It was decided that the beam and spindles be sold on Ebay. I found the parts I needed, and raised the front myself with a little help, later I had the shop down the street raise the rear. Done.

Chase if you are mad at this, truthfully, I don't understand. However, I do want to understand and give you the benefit that I may have misunderstood you along the way. Maybe we both made the point that attacking each other on a forum is not only counter productive, but just plain silly. Maybe some day we'll meet and laugh about this whole thing. If you are needing to talk about this further I would be more than happy to talk about this over the phone or through email.

Let's both move on.

Cage,

I have a few questions that you may be able to answer about the bug.

Did you paint the original hood or is that a replacement? Just wondered if the original paint was sanded or anything?

Also, do you know anything about the miles on the current engine. Did the previous owner say when the last rebuild was?

Give us the story of how you found the bug! It would be cool to know more history.

Honestly I was over it.
I did not care that you baught it from Eddie thats fine I was just A little bitter because I offered it as stock highth for cheaper. Whene I got mad is whene you couldnt take custructive critisism without in turn Bash me, it seemed as if you were saying I sold the car without a description of what it needed to be finished. And thats not how I work.

To answer a few other questions/comments
trickvdub Yes I am Union Ironworker but it was winter time whene I sold the car, I just had a newborn son dec 1 and found a bus so yes money was tight and I had to let it go without finishing.
hemifalcon I am an adult and manage my money very well, BUT shit happens. I had the car since Aug. and acumilated the accesories over time (some I had from before)
Kahlil
The hood was already resprayed whene I got it and it looked terrible so I hit it with krylon paint just to try to make it look better till I found an OG black hood (as I wasnt planning on selling it)
I dont know anything about the engine and the guy I got it from I wouldnt believe if he told me. I found it on CL and later saw it was on this site.
You had my number and thats why it sucked to hear all this shit this way rather than just calling me. If you lost it its on this site because I have a few things for sell Dont hesitate to call if you have any other questions.
CHASE (775) 762-3762

And yes Im sure will will meet someday.
Now lets get a mod to clean up this shitfest up

this is why I was/am mad you should have advertised it here, I was looking for a rag, it would have been nice to give $1800 for one, and it would have stayed low...
