| Short answer is, yes. Long answer is no, but it's expensive. Upright conversions for the type IV (1972-up bus) engines are becoming more popular, but they are still hard to find and expensive. I plan to put a type IV in a split window, but right now I am looking for a good reasonably priced conversion kit. Plan to spend $500 up just for the kit. Check out Shoptalkforums.com for more info. Good luck. |

It is not exactly a compatible engine.., the width and the sheetmetal configuration of both the engine and the body sheet metal of the engine compartment differ greatly...
You may want to go check out
www.shoptalkforums.com / forums sections for alot more techie conversion stuff than is normally on here.... |

| why not just fix the engine already in there. arent the uprights better and easier to work on any way. you could sell your 72' engine to at least partially pay for your 69'. |

Besides the trmendous work encountered, the trannys are geared differently and you won't get the benefit of the original torque curves.
