On a 96 Jetta with 123,000 miles would this be a good or bad idea?

Stay away from those no-name brand chips, they're not worth it.
Also is your '96 a 2.0 or VR6?
Go with Neuspeed, GIAC, TT (Techtonics), or AutoTech Q-Chip.
You'll get a better response from the VW Vortex which is dominated by watercooled VW enthusiasts.

I had the TT chip my 95 jetta 2L and it really bumped up the mid range. ALOT more than I was expecting. You do have to run premium fuel afterwards though. Money well spent for me.
The guy who just bought the car from me pulled up in a MK3 jetta and after the test drive asked why it was so much faster than his. |
