Looks like I need to replace the head gasket... wondering what the estimated cost to replace would be.
Car is an '86 cabriolet and I'm in San diego...

| Parts are cheap but while you do that work you may as well do the timing belt, tensioner, and the waterpump. Parts should be around $150-ish and labor for all of that is (minus headwork) around 3-4 hours, give or take. You should look on vwvortex.com and check their regional section for California, bunch of good guys out your way. I know California labor rates are a little higher than Texas but the work is real easy. I edited the parts cost because you can buy a headgasket kit that includes all gaskets touched while doing the work (intake, exhaust, etc). |
