Hey all,

Is the Type 3 clock a different size than the bus clock?

It is the same size, however it looks different than a true Type 2 clock and will not match your other gauges. There were two models of clock, 68-72 and 73-79.

They attatch differently too. Type 3 pushes in and has clips, type 2 are held in with screws from the back.

OK, so much for that idea. In the past 2 weeks I've lost out on 2 of them, including a complete 77 gauge cluster for $45 on ebay due to the damn snow knocking out my cable LOL

Oh well, I'll keep trying

I have 2 68-72 style Bus clocks if you are interested.

MrBreeze Mon Feb 17, 2003 6:19 pm

I would be, but I'm looking for one for a 77

MrBreeze Mon Feb 17, 2003 6:20 pm

You think $85 plus shipping is a fair price for a 78 cluster including clock?

breadloafdeluxe Mon Feb 17, 2003 6:35 pm

Do what I did , get guages from a 914. Gas on the left tach in the middle, speedo on the right.

MrBreeze, I have the 73-79 black face quartz clock for your 77. $60 + postage. This is the correct clock.

Jeff,

I have three clocks (one in my Bus). The two that are out are in perfect condition but I'll have to crack them open to check out the fuse inside of them. I'll get in touch with you next week, okay?

Chabanais,

Sounds great! I'll be waiting.

Thanks
Jeffro

Is the wiring there for the clock or is it something I have to add?

Jeff,

There's a clock for sale in the Classifieds section, just so you know.

The clock has three connections on it: light, positive, ground. The clock's hot wire, on a 71 Bus, wires into a terminal on the light switch.

koho60 Fri Feb 28, 2003 11:39 am

Chabanais,

Will that clock fit a 72? And if it's not working, how hard is it to fix. Do you still have a clock that you want to part with.

Thanks for checking.

will the 914 gauges fit the 68 cluster

SOMEONE SELL ME A CLOCK FOR MY 72'WESTY!

Karl Tue Mar 04, 2003 7:44 am

The early ones with the silver center are tough to find and are mechanical with an electric winder. Most of them do not work. Usually the thermal fuse is blown. That is repairable. But a lot of the time, the mechanical clock is bad or dirty. Then you need to have a clock/watch repair shop fix it. More $$.
From 73 up, the clocks have a black face. These are quartz clocks. They have a very low failure rate. Out of 12 I have/had, only one was bad: it ran backwards!
I do have one good one left if you want to go the black face route. $60 + postage from Fresno, Calif. [cheaper than ebay]

Chabanais,
Any word on the clock!

Thanks
