Hi there...
another question that just popped in my head.... :-)
In my 70' Westy that's a 1600 dual port, at what RPM is redline?
The previous owner installed a tack so I get the benefit of seeing what i'm doing. I've been keeping the RPM's below 4000. When I'm doing 65 on the freeway. I'm doing about 3900 RPM. It'll certinely wind much higher but I don't want to overdue it.
about how high can I keep the RPM's constant. Is it safe to be doing 75 MPH at 4500 rpm or is that too much? It sure sounds pretty loud!
thanks |

I found this :
"Once you decide to run at higher than stock RPMs (4500 redline), or install HD valve springs, or a high performance camshaft, the stock rocker assemblies WILL fail, it's just a matter of when. "
Here:
http://www.aircooled.net/gnrlsite/resource/articles/t1hpeng.htm
RPM is mentioned in the section on valve springs, and farther down the page.
