so my girlfriends car is a 96' cabrio. the reverse gear was poping and grinding, then finally doesn't work. so im about to drop the transaxle and get into the gear box to replace it. i know its a replacement part because my local napa dealer sells the gear like its an everyday thing. what i need to know is if there is any other replacement parts i should be aware of. im guessing that the gear brakes easy because its in the stupedist position to were you can grind it with out trying. also, the other gears are doing just fine, are they seperate from the reverse gear, or doest the broken peices just fall into a bath were it won't climb onto the other gears? i would like any feedback, even from non watercooled experts. i just want to make sure during the middle of the job i don't come out with stupid questions and "oh i should have thought about that" phrases. thanks
