Here's mine before the drop spindles.... CB 2'" beam, CB wide 5 disc brakes, 145's.

I've got the CB 2" narrowed beam, dropped spindles and disc brakes for my '51 (although it's all still in boxes!), and will run Flat Four BRMs with that set up. I looked into it a little bit before I bought it - the idea of the 2" narrowed beam is that the extra width of the spindles AND the discs will be taken up by the reduction in width of the beam, leaving the wheels pretty damn close to where they would be with a stock set up. If you want the narrowed look with the spindles and discs then you'll need to narrow the beam some more.

I want to run the same setup on my 66 sedan - Eagle 5 spokes, CB wide 5 disk w/ CB dropped Spindles and 4" narrowed beam w/ shocks. Going for a cal-look also. I have some 195/60 r15 tires on all 4's right now. I like the ride/ look of wide front tires on the front, right now they stick out about 3/4" on each side do to tire width. anybody running wider tires than 175/55 on the front with this setup? What kind of rubbing issues? Im not afraid to bang on my headlight buckets a little. Ive searched but no one is running this setup except on this thread. I will be running some 205's in back. thanks

CB 2 incher, Wide 5 discs, drop spindles on 5 spokes with 145 nankangs. Needs to be narrowed a couple more inches, see how close it is. It rubs the fender lip bad.

I'm looking at going down much the same road on my 65. The question I have is how narrow a beam can I fit without doing any body mods and still running shocks? Will a 4" narrow beam require any body work, as I really only want to do a bolt on job?

On my 66 3" put me at the inner fenderwell with the shock tower. But the CB dropped spindles and the spacers and adapters kicked it out pushes it out an inch. But the ride is better than just the adjustable beam. I am also running 195/50/15 in front they rub a little when turning up the driveway I will buy some 175/55/15 from tire rack when i get a chance.


The adepter with the spacer with disc breaks.

I made a brake rail (like a fuel rail) to feed the duel circuit master cylinder and also to keep the original look of the single reservoir bottle.

Oh I almost forgot I am running the Eagle Alloys 5 spokes and their offset is a little different than the Rocket 5 spokes. I machined about 7/16 off of the back pedestals witch give it the same offset and measurements as the rocket alloys. I had posted the Rim mods on the first page.

I love the custom machine work. Wish I had garage/machine shop like yours..

Now I have some Continental Smart Car 145/55-15 tires on order from Tirerack.com when I get them mounted I will post some pics.

Same beam except it's link pin, same spindles, same tires, same wheels. Stock drum brakes.

Just an FYI.......part of the point of having a dual circuit m/c is also having a dual circuit resivoir. They have a baffle internally, sepparating the front fluid from the rear. As it is now, if you have a leak in one of the circuits, you still lose all of your brakes. W/ a baffled resivoir, you still retain the fluid for the other circuit.......which means you can still stop. It's a nice piece, but a bad idea at the same time.

Thanks for the concern. I am very aware of the dual circuit reservoir and its function. And when I locate a 67 reservoir I will probably change it. But I was not going to hack the car for two reservoirs or something that I would need to repair later. But the idea of the rail serves it s purpose and keeps the car body unhacked. My VW's are my toys not daily drivers but I do count on them at a moments notice some times.

Hey Guys,
I'm building a 56' Oval and I want it slammed low on smoothies. I have a 2" narrowed CB Beam and all 4 Disc brakes. Id like to know what size rear smoothies I should have made through stockton tire and what size tire would be best tucked under the rear fenders to fill it up. I have a new set of 205x60x15" tires that I could run but I'm not sure. I was told that the rear disc brakes will kick out 5/8". I'm also having a trans built and the builder is asking me if I want a short or long axles :shock:

Any help would be appreciated.

actually I was wondering the same thing while reading through this thread. Anyone have knowledge to share?

My 66 is at the edge of the body with a 3" narrowed beam and shock towers. At 3.5" I would need to start pounding the body for clearance.

Does running the 4 lug to wide 5 lug adaptor cause, or have, any potential issues with safety? I have seen people say don't run adaptors, but if they work and are safe....why not?

I have seen Porsche's run spacers that are 1"+ in the back. I don't think they would be produced for so many years and be a big issue. Insurance and ambulance chasers would have put these company's out of business a long time ago. It does widen the track and when we are trying to fit larger wheel/tire combos it doesn't help.
