You don't know if the cabinets out of a Vanagon Westy will fit in a late bay Westy do you? I know they will be close and don't mind doing a little work, but will they generally line up? I figure the vents on the side are a little different but haven't had a chance to measure them yet.

Sink/stove/fridge cabinet will fit with only a few modifications. The back side against the wall has a different contour and as you indicated the hookups do not match up. I have seen various photos on the net where people put Vanagon sink/stove/fridges into busses and some of them look really nice. The fold down bed, closet, and overhead cabinets are a different story because the Vanagons were significantly wider (4" I think) than the busses. These items would have to be modified and narrowed. It is possible to make them fit, but I have never seen anybody try. Good luck.

I used to own a 73 with the Vanagon galley cabinet and rear bed in it. I didnt personally do the install but it did seem to fit alright. The rear bed fit just right but that was without the side closet. As for the venting I think that flexible hose was used to match up to the stock vent locations.

Hey Westy78,
Did the fold down bed clear the sink/stove unit when you folded it down flat? I thought about installing the Vanagon sink/stove and fold down bed without installing the side cabinet, but I wasn't sure the bed would clear the sink/stove when folded flat. Not installing the side cabinet would otherwise give you plenty of room for the bed. The side cabinet has the water tank in it, but it isn't necessary otherwise. I recently sold a complete Vanagon Westfalia interior to a guy who was going to install it in a Riviera camper. I may keep the next one I acquire and put it in a bus myself. Thanks for any info.

gokayaking,

Yeah the bed folded down fine. My bus was a Riviera and had the water tank cabinet installed also. Come to think of it I think that it had the original Z-bed so it would clear the tank cabinet. It didnt have the side closet so the bed was wide at the top. It was definately nice to have the updated fridge that ran off of LP gas. Every thing fit against the wall pretty well. I dont know how much work it was to get it all in there but worked out nice.

One other thing. I dont remember the Vanagon cabinets being any wider than the ones in my Westy that I have now. The Vanagons where wider but I think the cabinets stayed almost unchanged. It seems like I had more floor space in my Riviera than I do in my Westy but that was about seven years ago so I could be wrong.
