I have the stock 4x130mm rims, 15 inch, and I need new tires. What tires are safe to put on these, diameter and height-wise? The car has stock beetle suspension.

Use 165/80's.

Yeah, that's what's on the spare tire, and it's a tad to narrow for my liking. Would it be possible to fit 175/65 or 175/80 on there without any problems? The PO installed 185/65 on the car, and while they look kinda cool bulging out to the sides, the front tires rubs against the suspension when turning to full lock.

they rub
Really?

I have 195/65/15s on the front of my 67 type 3(2 clicks down)
and i rub a "little"

and as far as i know
a beetle has Way more room on any tire than a type3

ALSO:http://www.bigcustomwheels.com/rt_specs.jsp
175/65 sounds as if it would be a better size for you
and they seem to be readily available

hopefully this website will help

The stock 165's on my square rub @ full lock. I've had 195's on it that only rubbed @ full lock. Rubbing @ full lock is common on lots of cars. Not that big a deal. It just restricts your turning radius a little.
