I was at the self-serve junkyard today on my continuing quest for an icebox for my 70 Westy when I came upon a late '60s Westy that still had the swing-out step that attaches to the sliding door. I managed to get the step and it's hardware off but the spindles that it swings on seem to be welded onto the inner shell of the body, and I couldn't get them off.

Does anybody have any experience with removing and installing this option?

Thanks.

I have one. There are two mouting locations, there is a screw that goes in on the bottom that mounts the step to the frame of the Bus. You unscrew those. If it's welded on I can't help you.
